The Last Shot Movie Plot

The Producer: An FBI Mob Sting Story

Action,Comedy  United States of America

The Last Shot is a 2004 comedy-crime movie directed by Jeff Nathanson. The film stars Matthew Broderick, Alec Baldwin, Toni Collette, and Calista Flockhart. The story follows a struggling film director named Steven Schats (Matthew Broderick) who has been trying to secure funding for his latest screenplay. He finally convinces a supposed producer named Joe Devine (Alec Baldwin) to invest in his project.

However, Schats soon discovers that Devine is not a real producer but actually an undercover FBI agent working on a sting operation to bring down the mob. The FBI's plan is to use Schats' movie as a front to launder money for the mafia. Schats finds himself in over his head as the FBI and the mob both pressure him to deliver his unfinished film on time.

As filming progresses, the FBI learns that the mob has caught on to their operation. In a race against time, Schats must find a way to save the movie, protect the FBI's cover, and avoid getting caught in the middle of a dangerous criminal conspiracy.

The Last Shot is loosely based on a real-life FBI operation that used a fake movie production to catch members of the Colombo crime family in the late 1980s. The film received mixed reviews but was praised for its clever premise and sharp comedy. Matthew Broderick's performance was also widely praised as one of his best in years.
