The Last of the Mohicans is a 1992 historical epic film directed by Michael Mann and based on James Fenimore Cooper's novel of the same name. Set during the French and Indian War, the film tells the story of a group of British soldiers, led by Major Duncan Heyward, who are escorting the daughters of a colonel to safety. The group is joined by an orphaned settler, Hawkeye (played by Daniel Day-Lewis), and his Mohican companions, Chingachgook and his son, Uncas.

Along the way, the group encounters a young Mohawk warrior, Magua, who seeks revenge against the Munro family for past wrongs. Magua and his men attack the group, killing many of the British soldiers and capturing Cora and Alice Munro. Hawkeye and his companions set out to rescue the sisters, but are pursued by Magua's men.

The film is known for its stunning cinematography, score, and action scenes, as well as for its portrayal of the relationships between the settlers, Native Americans, and European powers during this tumultuous period of American history. The Last of the Mohicans was a critical and commercial success, and received numerous award nominations, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Sound.
