The Last Airbender is a live-action adaptation of the animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender. The film is directed by M. Night Shyamalan and stars Noah Ringer as Aang, Nicola Peltz as Katara, and Jackson Rathbone as Sokka.
In the film, Aang is the last surviving Airbender and is discovered frozen in ice by Katara and Sokka of the Water Tribe. Aang learns that he is the Avatar, a powerful being who can control all four elements: water, earth, fire, and air.
The Fire Nation, led by Fire Lord Ozai (Cliff Curtis), seeks to conquer and enslave the other nations using their powerful firebending abilities. Aang and his friends travel the world to train and confront the Fire Nation, while also trying to bring peace to all the nations.
The Last Airbender received negative reviews from critics and audiences alike, with many criticizing the casting choices and the changes made to the original series. Despite this, it grossed over $319 million worldwide, sparking plans for a sequel that was ultimately never made.
