During the ice storm, the dinosaur families take shelter in a cave, and the elder dinosaurs inform the youngins about a legendary "Night Circle," which will bring warmth and light to the valley. Mr. Thicknose, who claims to have knowledge about the Night Circle, agrees to lead the young dinos in search of Spike.
Spike, who has joined a herd of spike-tailed dinosaurs, is happy to be with his own kind but is also sad that he had to leave his old friends. When he learns of the Night Circle, he realizes that his old friends are still in the valley and decides to go back with the spike-tailed dinos to join them.
The young dinos, on their way to find Spike, encounter various obstacles, like a river, a tar pit, and an angry T-Rex. But with teamwork and determination, they overcome these challenges and continue their journey.
Meanwhile, the elder dinosaurs in the cave face their own difficulties, like the scarcity of food and water. But they stick together and help each other out.
When the young dinos finally reach Spike and convince him to come back with them, they discover that the Night Circle is nothing but a group of fireflies. Nonetheless, they celebrate the newfound warmth and light, and the young dinos are welcomed back by their families.
