In this ninth installment of The Land Before Time franchise, Littlefoot and his friends encounter a new dinosaur named Mo, who claims to have come from a land beyond the "big water" (an ocean). Mo sets off with the gang to find his way back home, while also teaching them about the concept of swimming and the many creatures that live in the ocean.
As they journey through the unfamiliar terrain, the group faces various obstacles and challenges, such as meeting a group of hostile ichthyosaurs and braving a perilous river crossing. However, they also make new friends, including a pteranodon named Pterano (voiced by Michael York), who becomes an unlikely ally in their quest.
