The Kissing Booth is a coming-of-age romantic comedy film, released on Netflix in 2018. The story follows Elle Evans, a high school student who has always been best friends with Lee Flynn, her neighbour and childhood friend.
Lee's older brother, Noah, is the hottest and most popular boy in school, but also an off-limits crush for Elle. During a charity event, Elle runs a kissing booth and Noah volunteers to be the kissing partner. Elle and Noah share a kiss that sparks a forbidden romance and they start seeing each other secretly.
However, Elle's relationship with Lee becomes strained as he disapproves of her dating his brother. She also faces backlash from the rest of the school, as Noah is known for being a player and Elle is seen as breaking girl code by dating her best friend's brother.
As their relationship becomes more serious, Elle must navigate the challenges of keeping her relationship with Noah secret, dealing with her friendship with Lee, and managing her feelings for both boys. The movie concludes with Elle making a heartfelt speech at the school dance, in which she reveals her relationship with Noah to everyone and reconciles with Lee.
The Kissing Booth is based on a novel of the same name by Beth Reekles and has since spawned two sequels on Netflix. The film starred Joey King as Elle, Jacob Elordi as Noah, and Joel Courtney as Lee.
