The King's Daughter is a historical fantasy film set in the 17th century. King Louis XIV, played by Pierce Brosnan, is obsessed with the idea of being immortal. He believes that possessing the life force of a mermaid, a creature believed to possess magical powers, will grant him immortality.
To achieve his goal, the King orders his men to capture a mermaid, played by Fan Bingbing. However, his illegitimate daughter, Marie-Josèphe, played by Kaya Scodelario, discovers the mermaid and develops a bond with her.
Marie-Josèphe tries to protect the mermaid from her father and his men, who want to use her for their own gain. She learns that the mermaid is not just a creature of myth, but a sentient being with feelings and emotions.
As the King's obsession with immortality grows stronger, Marie-Josèphe must make a decision between her loyalty to her father and her love for the mermaid. She must also confront the consequences of her father's actions and the impact they have on the mermaid and their world.
The King's Daughter also features a talented cast including Benoit Magimel, Sebastian de Souza, and William Hurt. The film was directed by Sean McNamara and produced by Philippe Rousselet and Nicolas Chartier.
