The Kid is a westerns movie that follows the story of an orphaned boy named Rio Cutler, who, along with his sister Sara, is forced to flee their home in New Mexico. They are on the run after their father is killed by a wealthy landowner, Grant Cutler, who wants to claim their land.
On their way to Santa Fe, they come across the infamous outlaw Billy the Kid and his gang, who are also on the run from the law, particularly Sheriff Pat Garrett. Rio becomes fascinated with Billy and sees him as a kind of a hero figure. But as they travel together, he begins to see the dark reality of Billy's life and realizes that he is not the hero he thought him to be.
As they journey through the dangerous landscape of the New Mexico Territory, Rio and Billy face numerous challenges, including gunfights with lawmen and rustlers. Their lives become even more complicated when they meet a young woman named Sara, and Rio develops a romantic interest in her.
