Thriller,Horror,Science Fiction  United States of America

The Invisible Ray is a 1936 science-fiction/horror film directed by Lambert Hillyer and starring Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. The film tells the story of Dr. Janos Rukh, a brilliant scientist who discovers a new type of radium that has remarkable healing properties. However, the radium also has a dangerous side, and exposure to it leads to madness and death.

As the film opens, Rukh is returning to his native Hungary with a sample of the radium after years of study in the United States. He is greeted as a hero, but soon discovers that his beloved wife Diana (Frances Drake) has been having an affair with his best friend Dr. Benet (Bela Lugosi). Rukh becomes consumed with jealousy and paranoia, and believes that Benet is trying to steal his discovery.

Rukh begins to exhibit strange behavior and hears voices in his head. He becomes convinced that the radium has given him supernatural powers and sets out to exact revenge on his enemies. He creates a special telescope with a lens made of the radium that can see into the past, and uses it to discover that Benet was responsible for his father's death.

In his madness, Rukh hatches a plot to kill Benet using his own poisoned body as a weapon. He arranges to meet Benet in a remote castle, where he intends to use the radium to destroy him. However, Rukh's plan goes awry when Diana and a group of scientists arrive on the scene, seeking to cure his insanity.

The Invisible Ray is notable for its strong performances by Karloff and Lugosi, who were at the height of their careers as horror film stars. The film also features impressive special effects, including the use of stop-motion animation to create a giant monster that attacks the scientists.
