The Inspector Wears Skirts

Action  Hong Kong

The Inspector Wears Skirts is a Hong Kong action-comedy film directed by Wellson Chin and released in 1988. The film stars popular actresses like Cynthia Rothrock, Karen Shepherd, and Sibelle Hu as a group of female police officers who are assigned to take down a dangerous gang that deals in weapons and drugs.

The female officers, led by Inspector Tsui (Hu), face numerous challenges as their male colleagues disrespect them and make sexist comments. However, the women remain determined to prove themselves and to show that they are just as capable as the men. Through their teamwork and bravery, they succeed in taking down the gang and earning the respect of their male colleagues.

Aside from its action-packed scenes, the film also tackles the personal struggles of the female officers, including infertility, marital problems, and the pressure to conform to societal expectations. Despite these challenges, the women remain strong and continue to fight for what they believe in.

The Inspector Wears Skirts was a box-office success and was followed by three sequels, all of which similarly revolved around female police officers overcoming obstacles and proving their worth. The film has since become a cult classic and is considered one of the iconic Hong Kong action films of the 1980s.
