Seetha and Harold Berger are on a journey in the desert when their guide abandons them and they find themselves lost. They are eventually rescued by a caravan and brought to a small village where they meet Maharaja Chandra, who offers them shelter in his palace. However, the greedy owner of the house where they are lodged, Yusuf, betrays the law of hospitality and reveals their location to Prince Ramigani, who has been plotting to overthrow Maharaja Chandra and become the new ruler of the region.

Seetha and Harold attempt to escape, but are hunted down by Ramigani and his men. Meanwhile, Irene Rhode and her husband Walter Rhode, who are on a tour of the region, begin to suspect that Chandra is hiding something about Harold's true identity.

Ramigani, aided by his conspirators, forces Seetha to accept a proposal of marriage from Chandra, knowing that it will provoke the wrath of the priests and gain him the allegiance of Prince Padhu and his army. Seetha reluctantly agrees to the marriage, hoping that it will buy her and Harold more time to escape.

Harold manages to escape from the dungeon where he was being held and sets out to rescue Seetha. He receives help from a kind-hearted dancer named Bayama and together they make their way to the palace, where they confront Ramigani and his men in a final showdown.

In the end, the conspirators are defeated and Seetha and Harold are reunited. Chandra is revealed to be a pawn in Ramigani's scheme, and ultimately emerges as a hero who sacrifices himself to save his people from Ramigani's tyranny.
