The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus follows the story of a traveling theater company led by the enigmatic Dr. Parnassus. The company performs elaborate live shows that transport the audience members into their own imaginations, but the real draw of the performances is the Imaginarium – a mystical mirror that grants those who pass through it access to unimaginable fantasies and alternate realities.
As the story unfolds, we learn that Dr. Parnassus has made a deal with the devil – the immortally charming Mr. Nick – in exchange for extended life. But the catch is that when Parnassus reaches his 60th birthday, his firstborn child will belong to Mr. Nick. Parnassus has a daughter named Valentina, and as the company travels from place to place, she becomes a pawn in a high-stakes game between her father and the devil.
The film is full of stunning visuals and mind-bending imagery, as well as plenty of dark humor and twisted plot twists. But the real highlight is the talented cast – including Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell – who all play versions of the same character as they enter the Imaginarium.
