The Ides of March is a political thriller film directed by George Clooney, based on the play "Farragut North" by Beau Willimon. It follows the campaign of Governor Mike Morris (played by Clooney) as he runs for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination. The story centers around Stephen Meyers (played by Ryan Gosling), Morris's press secretary, and his disillusionment with the political process as he is continuously exposed to the dirty tactics used by politicians.
As the campaign heats up, Meyers becomes involved in a series of events that force him to question his loyalty to Morris and his own ideals.
