The Ice Pirates is a 1984 sci-fi adventure comedy film directed by Stewart Raffill. The film takes place in a distant future where water is scarce and has become the most valuable resource in the galaxy. The planet Earth has become a desert wasteland, and the only source of water left is the Ice Planet, which is now hidden in the center of the galaxy.
The film centers on a group of space pirates led by Jason (Robert Urich), a fearless and charismatic leader who is determined to find the Ice Planet and steal its water. The crew consists of a motley crew of misfits, including Nanelia (Mary Crosby), a beautiful princess who is also an expert in martial arts, and Roscoe (Michael D. Roberts), a robot who has a penchant for stealing high-tech gadgets.
The crew's journey takes them across the galaxy as they battle against John Carradine's tyrannical empire and encounter various challenges and obstacles, including space battles, sword fights, and a group of cannibalistic space Amazons.
Throughout the film, the crew must stay one step ahead of Carradine's forces while trying to uncover the location of the Ice Planet. Along the way, they encounter various characters such as a space wizard and a mysterious alien who holds the key to finding the Ice Planet.
The Ice Pirates combines elements of swashbuckling adventure, sci-fi, and comedy to create a unique and entertaining film. While not a critical success upon its release, it has since gained a cult following and remains a beloved classic of the sci-fi genre.
