The Hoard is a satire on our obsession with reality TV and our desire for fame and fortune at all costs. It follows the production team as they arrive in Rockford, Ohio, excited to film their latest creation, Extremely Haunted Hoarders.
The team consists of Abby, a no-nonsense professional organizer who is determined to help Murph get his life back on track; Dr. Michael, a psychologist who believes he can cure Murph of his hoarding tendencies; and the two ghost hunters, Eddie and Daisy, who are convinced that the houses are haunted.
The team quickly realizes they have bitten off more than they can chew when they enter Murph's first house, which is so packed with random objects that they can barely move. As they start sorting through the piles of junk, they encounter everything from creepy dolls and taxidermy animals to jars filled with mysterious liquids.
But things take a dark turn when they discover a hidden room in one of the mansions that is filled with human skulls, bones, and other gruesome artifacts. Suddenly, they find themselves caught up in a real-life horror movie, as they try to unravel the mystery of the hoarder's past.
The Hoard is a clever mix of comedy and horror, with plenty of jump scares and witty one-liners. The mockumentary format gives the movie a sense of realism that makes it all the more terrifying, as we watch a seemingly innocent reality TV show turn into a nightmare.
