The Heroic Trio is a Hong Kong action film directed by Johnny To and starring Michelle Yeoh, Anita Mui, and Maggie Cheung as the titular trio of female superheroes. Tung (played by Michelle Yeoh) is a skilled martial artist and the wife of a police officer, while Ching (played by Maggie Cheung) is a high-tech scientist who was kidnapped as a child and forced to work for the villainous eunuch, Chan. The third member of the trio is the streetwise thief-catcher, Chat (played by Anita Mui), who has a personal vendetta against Chan for murdering her family.
As the film begins, Chan has hatched a diabolical plot to kidnap the babies of wealthy families and use them to create a serum that will grant him immense power. Tung, Ching, and Chat are brought together by chance and decide to team up to stop Chan and his minions. Along the way, they confront a variety of dangerous foes, including a gang of biker ninjas and a group of humanoid robots.
As the trio fights their way through Chan's lair, they must also confront their own personal demons and past traumas. Tung and Lau's relationship is strained by the dangerous nature of Tung's work, while Ching struggles with her own feelings of guilt over her past association with Chan. Chat, meanwhile, must come to terms with her own mortality as she faces increasingly dangerous foes.
In the thrilling climax, the heroines face off against Chan and his army of minions in a battle that tests their strength, agility, and teamwork. Through their bravery and determination, they succeed in preventing Chan from carrying out his evil plans and emerge victorious, as the heroines of the East.
