Eddie (played by Ben Stiller) is a single and successful sporting goods store owner in San Francisco. After attending his ex-girlfriend's wedding, he feels pressure from his family and friends to settle down and find a wife. Eddie meets and falls for Lila (played by Malin Akerman), a beautiful and adventurous blond. Despite Lila's quirks and red flags, Eddie quickly proposes and they plan a honeymoon in Mexico.
Upon arriving in Cabo San Lucas, Eddie begins to realize that Lila is not the woman he thought she was. She is demanding, rude, and selfish. To make things worse, Eddie meets Miranda (played by Michelle Monaghan) and begins to develop feelings for her. Miranda is kind, caring, and everything that Lila is not.
Eddie must navigate his feelings for Miranda while trying to maintain his marriage to Lila. He also discovers some shocking secrets about his new wife, and must decide if he wants to stay with her or cut his losses and move on.
The Heartbreak Kid is a comedy film directed by the Farrelly brothers, known for their irreverent humor and slapstick antics.
