The movie revolves around the Campbell family, including father Peter, mother Sara, and their son Matt, who has been diagnosed with cancer and needs to be close to the hospital for treatment. The family decides to move to upstate Connecticut and rents a large Victorian house, which they think will be perfect for their needs.
However, upon moving in, they start experiencing weird and spooky phenomena, including strange noises, apparitions, and odd smells. Soon the family discovers that the house used to be a funeral parlor run by the Snedeker family when they lost their son to cancer. Desperate to make contact with their dead child, the Snedekers conducted séances and experiments with the supernatural in the house, which resulted in a series of disturbing and terrifying events.
As the Campbells dig deeper into the history of the house, they learn that the Snedeker's son Jonah was particularly instrumental in contacting demonic entities and opening a portal to the afterlife. Jonah was possessed by a demon that used his psychic abilities to influence the family and lure more lost souls into the house.
The Campbells struggle to make sense of their situation as they try to save their son from his terminal illness. They are helped by a local pastor, who informs them that the spiritual activity in the house is beyond his control. Peter and Sara must come to terms with their belief in the supernatural and their love for their son as they confront the malevolent force that wants to harm them.
The movie is based on a supposedly true story that took place in the same house in the 1980s. The Haunting in Connecticut is a chilling story that delves into the topics of death, grief, and the unknown, leaving the viewer unsettled and anxious.
