Upon arriving at the mansion, Jim and Sara Evers find it to be dark and foreboding. They are greeted by a sinister butler named Ramsley, who leads them to meet the owner, Edward Gracey. Gracey is a reclusive man who seems haunted by his past and obsessed with the idea that Sara is the reincarnation of his former lover.
As the Evers family settles in for the night, strange things begin to happen. Doors open and close on their own, ghostly apparitions appear, and eerie sounds fill the air. Jim and Sara soon realize that they are trapped in a supernatural realm and must find a way to escape.
With the help of a friendly spirit named Madame Leota and a hitchhiking ghost named Ezra, the Evers family uncovers the dark history of the mansion and the tragic fate of Gracey and his former love. They also discover that Ramsley, the butler, is behind much of the evil that is plaguing the house.
In a final showdown, the Evers family manages to defeat Ramsley and free the trapped souls in the mansion, including Gracey's lost love. As they exit the haunted house, they realize that they have come to appreciate the importance of family and the dangers of being a workaholic.
