The Guru is a 2002 romantic comedy film directed by Daisy von Scherler Mayer and starring Jimi Mistry as Ram, Heather Graham as Sharonna, and Marisa Tomei as Lexi.
Ram is a dance teacher in Delhi who dreams of becoming a star in America. When his friend Vijay visits from New York, he encourages Ram to come to the States and pursue his dreams. Ram arrives in New York, but quickly realizes that life in America is not what he imagined. He struggles to make ends meet and ends up working as a waiter in an Indian restaurant.
One day, Ram is mistaken for a spiritual guru by a group of wealthy New Yorkers. They hire him to help them find inner peace, not realizing that he has no idea what he is doing. Ram decides to go along with the charade and becomes a popular guru, known as the "Guru of Sex." He also meets and falls in love with Sharonna, a porn star who wants to leave the industry and pursue a career in acting.
As Ram's popularity grows, he becomes embroiled in a series of comical and chaotic situations. Eventually, he realizes that he can no longer keep up the pretense and must face the consequences of his actions.
