The Guillotines is a 2012 Hong Kong-Chinese action movie directed by Andrew Lau. The movie takes place during the Qing dynasty in China. The Guillotines were a secret army made up of orphans who were trained as skilled assassins. They were led by a man known as Wolf (played by Huang Xiaoming).

In the movie, the Emperor Yongzheng is facing a rebellion from a group known as the Eight Kingdoms. The Guillotines are tasked with hunting down the rebels and killing them. The Guillotines use a weapon known as the flying guillotine - a circular blade attached to a long chain that can be thrown at their targets and decapitate them.

During one mission, the Guillotines mistake a young rebel named Musen (played by Ethan Juan) for one of their targets. Musen is captured and brought before the Emperor, who offers him a deal. If Musen can lead the Guillotines to the rebel leaders, he will be spared. Musen agrees and begins to form a bond with the Guillotines, especially Wolf.

As they get closer to their targets, the Guillotines begin to question their loyalty to the Emperor and the morality of their mission. When they finally reach the rebel leaders, they discover a shocking truth that changes everything.

The Guillotines features thrilling action sequences and stunning cinematography. It explores themes of loyalty, honor, and the cost of violence.
