Jack Benson is a troubled teenager who has been bouncing from one foster home to another since he was a child. Despite having loving foster parents, he feels an emptiness inside and decides to set out on a journey to find his birth mother. With the help of his best friend, he begins his search and eventually discovers that his mother, played by Amber Benson, has been frequenting the Griddle House, a small diner in a nearby town.
As Jack gets closer to his mother, he begins to uncover a web of secrets and lies that have been kept hidden from him for years. He discovers that his mother has been haunted by her past and has been struggling to come to terms with the decisions she made in her youth.
