Svend and Bjarne's butcher shop isn't doing well, and they're struggling to make ends meet. One day, while trying to dispose of a dead animal, they accidentally discover that human flesh tastes surprisingly good. Swept away by their newfound discovery, they decide to start selling it at their shop, labelling it as "organic pork". The two butchers quickly become the talk of the town, and business starts to pick up as the community becomes obsessed with their organic meat.
However, as the business thrives, so do their problems. Eigil, Bjarne's brother, shows up at the shop, and they struggle to find a place for him in their lives. Meanwhile, a health inspector becomes suspicious of the meat, and the duo's secret quickly threatens to be exposed. As they frantically try to cover their tracks, their actions begin to have profound consequences on everyone around them.
The Green Butchers is a twisted and dark comedy that explores themes of masculinity, brotherhood, and the morality of capitalism. The film is directed by Anders Thomas Jensen and stars Mads Mikkelsen and Nikolaj Lie Kaas.
