The Good Neighbor is a psychological thriller film directed by Kasra Farahani and starring James Caan and Logan Miller. The movie was released in 2016 and it follows the story of David, a former New York Times journalist who moves to a new neighborhood to escape his troubled past.
David's new neighbor, Robert, is a mysterious and enigmatic figure who lives in a high-tech, surveillance-filled house. Despite their initial awkward interactions, David and Robert soon become friends. However, their friendship is tested when they accidentally hit a girl on her bike while driving under the influence of alcohol.
Robert convinces David to flee the scene and leave the girl for dead in order to protect David's career. David, now consumed with guilt, struggles to come to terms with his actions while Robert shows no remorse and goes to extreme lengths to keep their secret safe.
As the police begin to investigate the hit-and-run case, David is sent by his local newspaper to cover the story, where he meets the deceased girl's sister, Vanessa. Despite the tragic circumstances, David and Vanessa develop a romantic connection, which only serves to complicate his already fragile mental state.
Meanwhile, Robert becomes increasingly possessive of David and takes brutal steps to keep him under his control. The tense and twisted plot of The Good Neighbor unfolds as David and Vanessa work together to uncover the truth behind the hit-and-run incident while trying to stay alive in the face of Robert's ruthless machinations.
