Harum, played by Rock Hudson, is a young man seeking revenge for the murder of his father. He arrives in the city of Bagdad and quickly becomes embroiled in a plot to overthrow the Caliph, the city's ruler. Harum is aided in his quest by Krairuzan, played by Piper Laurie, a princess who is working undercover to stop the conspirators.
Krairuzan gives Harum a golden sword, which he uses to fight against the conspirators and their minions. The sword is said to make its wielder invincible, and Harum quickly becomes a hero to the people of Bagdad.
However, Harum's triumphs are short-lived when a duplicate sword is planted in his scabbard. The duplicate sword is cursed and causes Harum to become weakened and vulnerable. He is apprehended by the villainous conspirators and thrown into prison.
Krairuzan comes to Harum's aid and helps him escape from prison. Together, they continue their fight against the conspirators and their plans to overthrow the Caliph.
