The film, released in 1962, is set in ancient Persia and follows the story of a bandit named Hassan, played by Tab Hunter. Hassan has been told about a magical arrow that, when fired, will lead the person who owns it to the treasure of the great desert. Hassan believes that obtaining the arrow will help him claim heirship to the sultan's kingdom.

Hassan and his loyal band of thieves set out on a journey to find the arrow, but they are not the only ones in pursuit. The wicked Queen Samara, who desires the treasure for herself, also has her sights set on the arrow and will stop at nothing to get it.

Along the way, Hassan and his group encounter a young woman named Princess Laila. She is being held captive by the queen, who plans to force her to marry the sultan's son and become the queen herself. Hassan and his crew rescue Laila and together they continue their pursuit of the arrow.

Eventually, Hassan and his group come upon a group of genies who aid them in their quest. The genies provide them with enchanted weapons to ward off the queen's army and guide them to the location of the magic arrow.

In the end, after many trials and tribulations, Hassan obtains the arrow and uses it to claim his rightful place as the sultan's heir, with Laila by his side as his princess.
