Lisbeth Salander, a talented hacker, is living a solitary life in Stockholm after the events of the previous movie, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. One day, Frans Balder approaches her to retrieve a program that he believes could change the course of history. However, he also believes that it is too dangerous to exist, and his employers will stop at nothing to obtain it.
As Lisbeth delves deeper into the program, she discovers that it is a powerful tool that can access the world's nuclear codes. Balder has even included a backdoor that would allow him to shut down all of the world's nuclear power plants in case of an apocalypse. Lisbeth manages to get her hands on the program but is soon targeted by a group of cybercriminals who will stop at nothing to get it back.
With the help of journalist Mikael Blomkvist, and a young boy named August, who is the key to accessing the program, Lisbeth embarks on a dangerous mission to take down the villains behind the program. The movie explores themes such as family, loyalty, and betrayal, as Lisbeth's past comes back to haunt her.
The action-packed thriller is directed by Fede Álvarez and stars Claire Foy as Lisbeth Salander, Sverrir Gudnason as Mikael Blomkvist, and Sylvia Hoeks as Lisbeth's sister, Camilla. The Girl in the Spider's Web is based on the fourth book in the Millennium series by David Lagercrantz, which continues the late Stieg Larsson's trilogy.
