The Gifted Hands

Mystery  South Korea

The Gifted Hands is a South Korean crime thriller film directed by Kang Woo-suk and based on the real-life case of the Hwaseong serial murders that occurred from 1986 to 1991. The film follows the story of a detective named Park Doo-man who is tasked with investigating the kidnapping and brutal murder of a young girl named Park Jeong-jun.

During his investigation, Park Doo-man comes across a piece of graffiti that depicts the exact crime scene, including details that were never released to the public. The artist responsible for the graffiti is a young high school student named Lee Jeong-bum, who claims to have no knowledge of the crime but exhibits suspicious behavior.

As the investigation continues, Park Doo-man becomes increasingly convinced that Lee Jeong-bum is somehow connected to the crime. However, he struggles to find concrete evidence to support his suspicions, and the case remains unsolved for years.

Years later, Park Doo-man has retired from the police force, and the Hwaseong serial killer is still at large. When new evidence comes to light, he becomes determined to finally catch the killer and bring justice to the victims and their families.

The Gifted Hands is a compelling and suspenseful thriller that delves into the complex psychology of a serial killer and the tireless efforts of law enforcement to bring them to justice. The film features excellent performances from its cast, particularly from Kim Kang-woo as Park Doo-man and Kim Beom as Lee Jeong-bum.
