Action,Drama,Thriller  United Kingdom

The Fourth Protocol is a thriller movie based on the book of the same name by Frederick Forsyth. The movie follows MI5 agent John Preston, played by Michael Caine, as he investigates a potential breach of the Fourth Protocol - a top-secret agreement between the US and the UK which prohibits the use of nuclear weapons in a first strike.

Preston becomes suspicious when he discovers that a Soviet spy, codenamed "Merlin," has infiltrated a small English town under the guise of a journalist. He suspects Merlin is assembling a nuclear bomb with the help of a group of other Soviet agents who have been placed undercover in the UK.

As Preston races to uncover the plot and stop the bomb from detonating, he is hindered by bureaucracy and red tape within MI5. He teams up with Soviet defector, Valeri Petrofsky, played by Pierce Brosnan, who reveals that Merlin is actually Kim Philby, a notorious spy who defected to the Soviet Union in 1963.

With time ticking away, Preston and Petrofsky launch a daring mission to stop the bomb from being detonated in London. The movie features intense action sequences, espionage, and political intrigue as the two agents race to save countless lives from a catastrophic nuclear attack.

Overall, The Fourth Protocol is a gripping thriller that highlights the paranoia and tensions of the Cold War era. It boasts a talented cast, sharp writing, and a suspenseful plot that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats.
