The Four is a Chinese action-adventure film directed by Gordon Chan. The movie is based on a popular wuxia novel by Wen Ruian and follows the story of four skilled warriors – Cold Blood, Emotionless, Iron Hands and Life Snatcher – who are known as the Divine Constabulary.
The corrupt chief assigns Cold Blood, played by Deng Chao, to infiltrate a rival department and sabotage their investigation of counterfeit currency. Cold Blood disguises himself as a painter and gains the trust of the rival department's leader, Divine Justice, played by Anthony Wong.
As he works undercover, Cold Blood discovers that Divine Justice has been investigating the counterfeiter, Zhuge Zhengwo, played by Ronald Cheng, who has a grander plan to overthrow the capital. Zhuge Zhengwo is using the counterfeit money as a means to finance his army of the undead, which he plans to use to take control of the city.
Cold Blood, along with his allies, must stop Zhuge Zhengwo and his army of undead from taking over the capital. The film is full of action sequences, including martial arts fights, magical powers, and epic battles with the undead.
The Four is a thrilling action-packed film that will keep audiences at the edge of their seats until the very end. It was released in 2012, and the critical and commercial success of the film led to two sequels - The Four II and The Four III.
