The Fog

Horror,Thriller  Canada

The Fog is a 1980 horror film directed by John Carpenter and stars Adrienne Barbeau, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Atkins, and Hal Holbrook. The film is set in the fictional town of Antonio Bay, California, which is celebrating its centennial anniversary. However, strange things start to happen when a mysterious fog rolls into town, bringing with it the vengeful ghosts of sailors who were killed by the town's founders 100 years prior.

As the fog descends on the town, strange occurrences begin to take place, including power outages, phones ringing but with nobody on the other end, and objects moving by themselves. The townspeople soon discover that the fog is not just a natural occurrence, but a supernatural force seeking revenge for the atrocities committed against the sailors.

As the ghostly figures wander through the town, killing those who get in their way, a group of survivors, including Barbeau's character Stevie Wayne, the town radio DJ, and Atkins' character Nick Castle, a hitchhiker, must band together to stop the ghostly apparitions before they can exact their final revenge.

The Fog features Carpenter's signature style, with atmospheric lighting and a haunting score composed by the director himself. It has become a cult classic and spawned a 2005 remake, directed by Rupert Wainwright.
