Ollie falls in love with a beautiful French woman named Georgette during a visit to Paris with his friend Stan. However, Georgette is already married and politely rejects Ollie's advances. Heartbroken, Ollie decides to end his life by jumping into the Seine River, but is stopped by Stan.
Desperate to escape from his problems, Ollie and Stan join the Foreign Legion, believing that it will provide them with a fresh start. However, life in the Legion is tough and the boys find themselves stuck doing menial chores. They also have to deal with the bullying Sergeant (played by Charlie Hall), who makes their lives miserable.
Eventually, Ollie hatches a plan to escape from the Legion in order to be with Georgette. He convinces Stan to help him steal an airplane, hoping that they can fly back to Paris. However, their plan backfires as they are caught and arrested for desertion.
The boys are thrown into jail and are sentenced to face a firing squad. In a hilarious twist, they manage to escape from the jail cell and disguise themselves as members of the firing squad. Confusion ensues as they try to avoid getting caught and end up causing chaos on the Legion's parade ground.
In the end, the boys are caught and are about to be executed when Georgette arrives with her husband, who is a high-ranking officer in the Legion. He agrees to spare their lives and the boys are allowed to return to civilian life, much to their relief.
The Flying Deuces is a classic comedy film featuring the legendary comedy duo Laurel and Hardy. It was released in 1939 and was directed by A. Edward Sutherland. Although it was not a commercial success when it was first released, it has since become a beloved classic, known for its slapstick humor and endearing characters.
