The Fly II is a 1989 science fiction horror film which serves as a sequel to the 1986 film The Fly. The movie is directed by Chris Walas, who served as the make-up effects supervisor on the first film, and stars Eric Stoltz and Daphne Zuniga.

The film begins with the aftermath of the first movie's events, where Seth Brundle, the human/fly hybrid, dies while trying to kill his unborn child with Veronica Quaife. However, the baby survives and is adopted by Anton Bartok, the CEO of Bartok Industries, who wants to study the child's accelerated growth rate, which is caused by his mutant chromosomes.

The child, who is named Martin Brundle, grows up at Bartok Industries, where he is raised by scientists and researchers who are eager to study his unique abilities. Martin inherits his father's intelligence and scientific genius, while also developing fly-like traits, such as increased strength and reflexes, and heightened senses.

As Martin grows older, he starts to question his origins and the motives of the people around him. He falls in love with Beth Logan, a researcher at Bartok Industries, and together they discover a secret lab where Martin's late father had been conducting experiments. Martin decides to continue his father's work, with the hope of finding a cure for his condition, but things go awry when he inadvertently creates a new hybrid creature that threatens to destroy everything and everyone he cares about.

The Fly II was criticized for its excessive violence and gore, but praised for its special effects and make-up, which were created by Walas and his team. The film grossed $38 million worldwide and spawned two direct-to-video sequels, The Fly: The Curse of the Judas Breed and The Fly: Outbreak.
