The Flintstones movie was released in 1994 and directed by Brian Levant. The film starred John Goodman as Fred Flintstone, Rick Moranis as Barney Rubble, Elizabeth Perkins as Wilma Flintstone and Rosie O'Donnell as Betty Rubble.

The film is set in the town of Bedrock, with the story centering around the lives of the Flintstone and Rubble families. Fred and Barney work at the Slate Rock and Gravel Company, where they are constantly frustrated by their boss, Mr. Slate.

When Barney and his wife Betty decide to adopt a child, Fred helps them by pretending to be a baby in a test for adoptive parents. Barney is happy to return the favor when Mr. Slate decides to test his employees to find a new executive. Barney switches his test with Fred's and helps Fred impress Mr. Slate with his innovative ideas.

However, things start to go wrong when Fred is promoted to executive and becomes increasingly distant from his family and friends. Wilma becomes frustrated with Fred's new attitude and begins to distance herself from him. Meanwhile, Cliff Vandercave, a rival executive, is plotting to frame Fred and take over the company.

With the help of Barney and the rest of his friends, Fred is able to see the error of his ways and foil Vandercave's plan. The film ends with Fred and Wilma rekindling their relationship and Barney and Betty officially adopting their son, Bamm-Bamm.

The Flintstones was a commercial success, grossing over $341 million worldwide. Despite mixed reviews, it has become a beloved cult classic and was followed by a sequel, The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, in 2000.
