The First Wives Club is a 1996 comedy film that follows three middle-aged women named Brenda, Elise, and Annie who are all former college friends. After years of supporting their now-successful husbands, they are each dumped for younger women and find themselves struggling to cope with the end of their marriages. The three women reconnect at their college friend's funeral and decide to take revenge on their ex-husbands by creating the First Wives Club. Together they come up with a plan to get even with their ex-husbands by taking them for all they're worth. The trio successfully executes their plan, but soon realize that their ultimate revenge was not financial gain, but rather finding happiness in their newfound independence. The film stars Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn, and Diane Keaton as the titular "first wives".
