The First Lap

The First Lap is a South Korean drama film that explores the relationships between individuals and their families. The movie begins with Su-hyeon and Ji-young, a couple who have been living together for six years. Su-hyeon is a teacher at a private art institute, while Ji-young is a contract worker at a small network enterprise.

Their world takes a turn when Ji-young realizes that she is late on her period, and she might be pregnant. The couple decides to go to Ji-young's parents in Incheon for a housewarming party. However, the party turns sour when Ji-young's mother presses them to get married.

As the pressure from the family builds up, Su-hyeon and Ji-young go on a road trip to Samcheok, a scenic coastal city in the east. During the trip, they confront their past traumas and the challenges that they face as a couple.
