The Fifth Musketeer is a 1979 adventure film directed by Ken Annakin. The movie is loosely based on the novel The Vicomte de Bragelonne by Alexandre Dumas.

In the movie, King Louis XIV of France (played by Beau Bridges) is informed that he has a twin brother, Philippe (also played by Bridges), who was born minutes after him. The king is shocked and refuses to acknowledge Philippe as his brother. Louis orders Philippe to be imprisoned in the Bastille and nobody, except for a select few, are aware of his existence.

Louis is concerned about his popularity and fears that he may lose the support of his people. He comes up with a plan to stage his own assassination and replace himself with Philippe, who will act as the king of France. The plan is put into motion, and during a parade, a gunshot is heard, and Louis falls to the ground. Philippe, who is dressed as Louis, emerges from the chaos and is proclaimed the new king.

However, Philippe is not content with being a mere puppet for his brother. He is determined to rule France his own way and make a difference in the lives of his people. Philippe is aided by some of the musketeers, including Aramis (played by Cornel Wilde) and D'Artagnan (played by Lloyd Bridges), who help him navigate the treacherous waters of court politics.

Meanwhile, Louis is kept hidden away, but he soon realizes that he has made a mistake by imprisoning his own brother. With the help of the beautiful Princess Maria Theresa (played by Olivia de Havilland), Louis escapes from confinement and sets out to reclaim his throne.

The Fifth Musketeer is a swashbuckling adventure filled with romance, intrigue, and action-packed sword fights. With a star-studded cast that includes Rex Harrison, Ursula Andress, and Ian McShane, the movie is a thrilling ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final credits roll.
