In The Feeling of Being Watched, Assia Boundaoui discovers that her predominantly Arab-American hometown of Bridgeview, Illinois has been under surveillance by the FBI for over a decade. She begins to investigate why her neighbors have been targeted and what the FBI is looking for. Through interviews with her community members, FBI agents, and archival footage, she uncovers a history of government surveillance and discrimination against Arab-Americans. As she delves deeper, she becomes more aware of the devastating toll this surveillance has taken on her community and the urgent need for transparency and accountability in government surveillance practices. The film explores themes of identity, fear, and power, and raises important questions about civil liberties and the role of government in protecting them.
