Drama  Germany,United States of America

The Express is a biographical sports drama film directed by Gary Fleder and released in 2008. The movie is based on the life of football player Ernie Davis, who became the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy in 1961.

The film follows Davis's journey from his youth in poverty-stricken Pennsylvania to his rise as a talented athlete, breaking records at Syracuse University. Through hard work, determination, and the guidance of Coach Ben Schwartzwalder, Davis becomes a trailblazer and inspiration for African-Americans in sports and the wider world.

However, his success is not without its challenges, as he faces racism and discrimination both on and off the field. Davis's achievements are ultimately cut short when he is diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 23, just as he is about to enter the NFL.

The Express features powerful performances by Rob Brown as Ernie Davis, Dennis Quaid as Coach Schwartzwalder, and Darrin Dewitt Henson as Jim Brown, another legendary football player and Davis's mentor.

The movie honors Davis's legacy as a groundbreaking athlete and symbol of hope during a time of social and political change in America.
