The Tenuous Equilibrium

Drama  United States of America

The Evening Hour is a drama film that was directed by Braden King and released in 2020. It is based on the novel of the same name by Carter Sickels. The movie stars Philip Ettinger, Cosmo Jarvis, Stacy Martin, and Michael Trotter in lead roles.

The story revolves around Cole Freeman, a nursing assistant who works in a nursing home in his rural Appalachian town. Cole also has a small business on the side, where he sells leftover prescription pills to local drug users. Cole has made a name for himself in the town by being a caretaker for the old and infirm, but his illegal activities have not gone unnoticed.

One day, Terry Rose, Cole's old friend from high school, returns to town, and he has different plans for Cole. Terry wants to start a new drug business by stealing leftover prescription pills from the nursing home where Cole works. Cole is initially hesitant to get involved, but Terry's charisma and his need for money eventually persuade him to join Terry's scheme.

However, as Cole gets deeper into the drug business, he starts to feel guilty about the harm he is causing. He becomes torn between his loyalty to his town and his moral conscience, and he's forced to make a decision that could change everything. The Evening Hour is a thoughtful and character-driven drama that speaks to the complexity of rural life and the choices we make.
