Drama  United States of America

The Drummer is a Taiwanese drama film directed by Kenneth Bi. The film tells the story of a rebellious young man named Sid (played by Jaycee Chan), who is sent by his father to live with a tribe of Chinese drummers in Taiwan. The tribe, known as the "Taiwu Mountain Indigenous Tribe," practices a form of drumming that is said to heal the spirit and connect the living with the dead.

Sid quickly finds himself drawn to the tribe's way of life and becomes friends with the tribe's leader, Master Liu (played by Tony Leung Ka-fai). However, Sid's reckless behavior and hostility towards his father create tension within the tribe.

As Sid becomes more immersed in the tribe's culture, he falls in love with a young woman named Hong Dou (played by Josie Ho). Hong Dou, however, is promised to another man within the tribe, leading to a clash between tradition and passion.

The film is notable for featuring a soundtrack by acclaimed American drummer and composer, Stewart Copeland. The drumming sequences were choreographed by famous Japanese drumming group, Kodo.

The Drummer explores themes of cultural identity, individuality, and the transformative power of music and tradition. The film received critical acclaim and won several awards at international film festivals.
