"The Domestic" is a psychological horror-thriller film directed by Brendan Muldowney. The film centers around an affluent couple, Kate (Gemma-Leah Devereux) and Justin (Séan T. Ó Meallaigh), who hire a new housekeeper named Tessa (Lia Williams) after their previous one dies suddenly.
Tessa is the daughter of the deceased housekeeper, and she is eager to impress her new employers. However, as Tessa starts working in the house, strange events begin to occur. Kate begins to suspect that Tessa is not who she seems to be.
As the days go by, Tessa becomes more and more obsessed with Kate and Justin's privileged lifestyle. She starts to undermine their relationship, and her strange behavior becomes increasingly disturbing. Kate and Justin come to realize that Tessa is plotting to destroy them from within.
"The Domestic" is a chilling exploration of class and power dynamics, as well as a disturbing examination of mental illness. The performances are excellent, with Lia Williams delivering a standout turn as the manipulative and dangerous Tessa. The film is a slow-burn, building to a shocking and terrifying climax.
