Thriller,Action,Adventure  United Kingdom

The Dogs of War is a 1980 action film directed by John Irvin and based on the novel of the same name by Frederick Forsyth. The film follows James Shannon, a mercenary who is hired by a British businessman to carry out a reconnaissance mission in the African nation of Zangaro. Shannon and his team successfully gather information on the military and political situation in the country.

However, when Shannon is arrested and tortured by the Zangaran government, he is deported back to the UK, where he is left without a job or prospects. Determined to regain his reputation and seek revenge, Shannon decides to use his knowledge of Zangaro's military vulnerabilities to plan a coup and overthrow the government.

Shannon assembles a team of mercenaries and arms them with the latest military technology, including hand-held missile launchers and high-powered rifles. The team lands in Zangaro and begins to carry out a series of coordinated attacks on the government's military installations, including the presidential palace.

As the mission progresses, Shannon faces increasingly difficult challenges, including betrayal from within his own team and unexpected counterattacks from the government forces. The film culminates in a bloody final battle, as Shannon and his mercenaries fight to take control of the country.

The Dogs of War is a gripping and intense film that explores the moral complexities of modern warfare, as well as the dangerous and often deadly world of military contracting. It features powerful performances from actors such as Christopher Walken, Tom Berenger, and JoBeth Williams, and is regarded as one of the best action movies of the 1980s.
