The Doctor and the Devils is a 1985 British horror film directed by Freddie Francis and produced by Mel Brooks. The movie is based on the true story of the famous anatomist, Dr. Robert Knox, who purchased cadavers from Burke and Hare, notorious body snatchers, to conduct his experiments on.

In the movie, Dr. Thomas Rock (played by Timothy Dalton) is a respected anatomy professor who is struggling to find enough cadavers for his research. He strikes a deal with two grave robbers, Tim (played by Jonathan Pryce) and Robert Fallon (played by Stephen Rea), who promise to deliver fresh bodies for him to dissect.

However, when the supply of corpses starts to dwindle, Tim and Robert resort to murder to keep up with the demand. As they continue to supply Dr. Rock with fresh bodies, they become bolder and more reckless, putting more innocent lives at risk.

Despite his initial reservations, Dr. Rock becomes increasingly obsessed with his experiments and turns a blind eye to the crimes committed by the two grave robbers. But when the authorities start to suspect foul play and pursue the murderers, Dr. Rock is forced to confront the horrifying reality of what he has become part of.

The Doctor and the Devils is a chilling tale that explores the dark side of scientific advancement and the moral dilemmas that arise when the pursuit of knowledge leads to unethical behavior. The movie features a strong performance from Timothy Dalton as the conflicted doctor and an impressive supporting cast, including Julian Sands and Twiggy.
