The Dinner Game

Comedy  France

The Dinner Game is a French comedy film written and directed by Francis Veber. The main character, Pierre Brochant, is a successful publisher who has a game that he plays with his friends every Wednesday. The game is called "Idiots' Day," and the objective is to bring along the most spectacular idiot to dinner. The winner of the game is the one who brings the best idiot.

Pierre is overjoyed when he thinks he's found the perfect idiot to bring to dinner. His choice is Francois Pignon, a taxidermist who makes matchstick models in his spare time. But what Pierre doesn't know is that Pignon is actually a very unlucky man who always seems to cause disasters wherever he goes.

As the dinner progresses, Pierre's frustration grows as Pignon inadvertently ruins everything, from the food to the table settings. To make matters worse, Pierre's wife and mistress both arrive at the same time, and chaos ensues.

There are many comedic moments in the film, such as the scene where Pignon accidentally sets Pierre's house on fire or when he accidentally swallows a fly during dinner. Despite all of the disasters, Pierre eventually realizes that Pignon is a kind and innocent man who doesn't deserve to be treated so poorly.

The Dinner Game is a hilarious film that pokes fun at the absurdity of social gatherings and the arrogance of the elite. It's a story about the importance of empathy and the dangers of making assumptions about people based on appearances.
