The Devil Rides Out is a 1968 British horror film, based on the 1934 novel of the same name by Dennis Wheatley. The film was directed by Terence Fisher and starred Christopher Lee and Charles Gray in the lead roles.

The story follows the Duc de Richelieu, played by Christopher Lee, who discovers that his friend Simon Aron has become involved in a cult led by the charismatic Mocata, played by Charles Gray. The cult's members are revealed to be Satanists, and Mocata has performed a ritual to summon a powerful demon known as the Angel of Death.

Richelieu and his associates set out to rescue Simon and to stop Mocata from carrying out his evil plans. They are aided by a white witch named Tanith, who is also a former member of Mocata's cult. Together, they confront Mocata and his followers in a series of dramatic clashes that showcase the power of black magic.

Throughout the film, the characters are subjected to a series of terrifying ordeals, including possession by demons, Satanic rituals, and mind control. The climax of the film sees Richelieu and Mocata engage in a psychic battle, with both men using their respective powers of good and evil to try and gain control.

The Devil Rides Out is widely regarded as one of the best horror films of its era, with particular praise given to the performances of Lee and Gray. It remains a cult classic to this day and has inspired many subsequent horror films.
