The Devil Inside is a 2012 horror film that tells the story of Isabella Rossi, a young woman who travels to Italy to investigate her mother, Maria, after she had allegedly murdered three people during her own exorcism. Isabella is accompanied by a documentary film crew, as she intends to make a film about her mother and her experiences.
Upon arriving in Italy, Isabella meets two exorcists, Ben and David, whom she convinces to perform an unauthorized exorcism on her mother, who is currently institutionalized. During the exorcism, however, they discover that Maria is possessed by multiple demons, making the exorcism much more complicated than they had anticipated.
Isabella's involvement in the exorcisms becomes increasingly dangerous, as the demons possess her mother and other people around her. She is faced with a difficult decision - risk her life to try and save her mother or walk away and forget about the whole thing.
The film features a found footage format, as most of the scenes are shown through the lens of the documentary film crew's cameras. The Devil Inside received mixed reviews from critics but was a commercial success, grossing over $100 million worldwide.
