"The Dead Pool" is the fifth and final movie in the "Dirty Harry" franchise, directed by Buddy Van Horn and released in 1988. The film stars Clint Eastwood as Harry Callahan, the tough and uncompromising San Francisco detective, and features Liam Neeson, Patricia Clarkson, and Jim Carrey in supporting roles.

The movie begins with a popular film director named Peter Swan (played by Neeson) announcing a new project called "The Dead Pool" where contestants can predict the death of various celebrities. Soon after, members of Swan's crew start to die one by one, and Harry is tasked with investigating the murders. Along the way, he is teamed up with a young detective named Al Quan (played by Evan C. Kim), who is eager to learn from Harry's experience.

The investigation leads them to several suspects, including a reporter and a deranged fan, but Harry soon discovers that the killer has been using information from the very contest he was investigating to carry out the murders. The final showdown takes place at the docks, where Harry confronts the killer in a thrilling and action-packed finale.

Despite the movie's darker and more violent plot, it also includes some comedic moments, particularly in the role of Johnny Squares (played by Jim Carrey), a rock star whose antics provide some lighthearted relief to the otherwise serious movie. The Dead Pool received mixed reviews from critics but was a financial success, grossing more than $37 million at the box office.
