The Dark Half is a 1993 horror movie directed by George A. Romero and based on Stephen King's novel of the same name. Thad Beaumont (played by Timothy Hutton) is a successful writer who has achieved his fame under the pseudonym of George Stark. However, Thad is tired of pretending to be someone else and decides to kill off his alter-ego by holding a public mock funeral.
Soon after, people connected to Thad begin to die in a string of brutal murders that seem to be inspired by the violent novels he wrote as George Stark. Thad begins to suspect that his pseudonym has come to life and that someone is actually killing in Stark's name. But when Thad's fingerprints are found at one of the crime scenes, the police suspect that he may be a suspect.
As the killings continue, Thad's wife Liz (played by Amy Madigan) and their young son are put in danger as Stark becomes more and more real. Thad becomes desperate to find a way to stop him before it's too late.
The movie explores the themes of identity, duality, and the power of imagination. Timothy Hutton delivers a standout performance in dual roles as Thad Beaumont and his alter-ego, George Stark. The Dark Half has received mixed reviews but is considered a notable addition to the Stephen King movie adaptations.
