The Curse of Frankenstein is a 1957 horror film directed by Terence Fisher and starring Peter Cushing as Baron Victor Frankenstein and Christopher Lee as the Creature. It is based on the classic novel by Mary Shelley and focuses on the story of the Baron, a brilliant scientist obsessed with bringing life back to the dead.
In the film, the Baron is aided by his faithful assistant Paul Krempe (Robert Urquhart) in creating the Creature, which is made from the parts of various corpses. However, things quickly go awry as the Creature becomes violent and begins to kill indiscriminately.
The Baron tries to keep the Creature a secret, but when Krempe finds out, he is horrified and demands that the Creature be destroyed. However, the Baron is determined to study his creation and learn more about the mysteries of life and death.
As the Creature continues its killing spree, the Baron's obsession with his creation grows stronger, leading to a final confrontation that ends in tragedy for all involved.
The Curse of Frankenstein is widely regarded as one of the greatest horror films ever made, thanks to its masterful direction, atmospheric visuals, and the powerful performances of its two lead actors. It is also notable for being the first in a series of Hammer Horror films, which became a staple of British horror cinema in the 1960s and 1970s.
